HIGHEST MOUNTAIN RANGES IN THE WORLD

Pakistan is the home of some world’s highest mountain ranges that includes the Himalayas and the Hindu Kush range. Out of 14 highest peak in the world 4 mountains are located in Hindu Kush range. Furthermore, K-2, the world’s second highest peak, is also located in Pakistan.

ONE OF THE LARGEST DESERTS IN THE WORLD

The Thar desert world’s ninth largest sub-tropical desert is located on the border between Pakistan and India. This desert is around 10,000 years old and was once a water source for the Indus Valley Civilization.

LARGEST DEEP SEA PORT IN THE WORLD

Gwadar the largest deep sea port in the world, located at the South Western Arabian Sea, along the coast line of Balochistan, Pakistan. This port is a lifeline in the region’s economy. Pakistan has agreed on a collaboration with China to turn Gwadar into a full scale commercial port.

HIGHEST POLO FIELD IN THE WORLD

Shandur is located in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan and called “Roof of the World”, because it’s elevated at a height of 12,200 ft. World’s highest polo ground is also located in Skardu. Every year a polo match is played between Gilgit and Chitral teams. This match is quite famous and people from all around the world come to watch this match, at the highest polo field in the world.

HIGHEST PAVED INTERNATIONAL ROAD

Karakoram Highway is the highest paved international road and it’s the “Eighth Wonder of the World”. Karakoram Highway has been constructed at a height of 15,397 ft between China and Pakistan. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the region.

SECOND LARGEST SALT MINE IN THE WORLD

Khewra Salt Mines are the world’s second largest, and Pakistan’s oldest salt mines. It was discovered by Alexander the Great’s troops in 320 B.C. So that’s a long long time ago.
The salt mines are the largest source of salt in the world, producing 350,000 tons of salt per year. The salt mine reserves are estimated to be about 600 million tons, so don’t worry, there’s plenty more salt to be mined.

LARGEST IRRIGATION SYSTEM IN THE WORLD

Pakistan has the world’s largest irrigation network and It serves 14.4 million hectares of cultivated land. it is fed by water from the Indus River. Three major storage reservoirs are main features of this system called Tarbela, Chashma and Mangla. Tarbela and Chashma are on the River Indus and Mangla is on the River Jhelum; 19 barrages; 12 inter-river link canals and 43 independent irrigation canals with a total length of the main canals at 58,500 km.

LARGEST AMBULANCE NETWORK IN THE WORLD

Do you know, Edhi Foundation is the world’s largest non-profit social welfare organization provides 24-hour emergency services, medical and healthcare services and shelter for orphans. Abdul Sattar Edhi started the service from a single room and now it has over 300 centers all over Pakistan. It has branches in other countries such as the UK, the US, Canada, Japan and China.

MORE THAN 50% OF THE WORLDS FOOTBALLS ARE MADE IN PAKISTAN

Sialkot is famous for making sports equipment. The trademark of the city is Hand-stitched footballs. This firm produce around 60 million hand-stitched footballs. In 2014, 42 million official ‘Brazuca’ footballs were exported to Brazil for the FIFA World Cup. NASA has also tested the football and declared it the best football ever made.

YOUNGEST CIVIL JUDGE IN THE WORLD BELONGS TO PAKISTAN

Muhammad Ilyas passed the exam enabling him to become a Civil Judge in July 1952 at the age of 20 years 9 months, although formalities such as medicals meant that it was not until eight months later that he started work as a Civil Judge in Lahore, Pakistan.
